Craig Lowndes' disastrous Sydney 500 has continued, the V8 Supercars veteran failing to qualify in the top 10 for the season's final race.
The Holden driver was only 13th fastest in Sunday's qualifying session, with Shane van Gisbergen topping the timesheets ahead of Volvo's Scott McLaughlin and champion-elect Mark Winterbottom of Ford.
The top 10 will battle it out for pole position in a shootout later in the afternoon.
Winterbottom wrapped up the championship on Saturday, beating Lowndes to claim his first title after a decade of attempts.
Lowndes had a shocker on Saturday with a crash in qualifying before finishing 15th and seventh in the two 37-lap sprints.
While the drivers' trophy has been decided, the team's championship is still up for grabs.
Just 16 points separate Winterbottom's Prodrive Racing Australia and Lowndes' Red Bull Racing Australia.
The winner will get the No.1 garage in pitlane next season.
Sunday's 74-lap race starts at 3.45pm (AEDT).
